Jose Chameleone Quits Alcohol & Smoking for Health

Ugandan music icon Jose Chameleone has made a powerful declaration: he’s turning the page to a healthier chapter by officially quitting alcohol and cigarettes. This significant decision comes after a period of health struggles, most notably a battle with acute pancreatitis that left him hospitalized in the United States for months.

Upon his return to Uganda, the “Leone Island boss” was greeted by adoring fans and family, a testament to his enduring popularity. In a press address, Chameleone candidly shared his journey with addiction, admitting that alcohol and smoking had been constants for much of his life. However, his recent health scare served as a profound wake-up call, prompting him to prioritize his well-being.

“I’ve enjoyed my fair share of celebrations and have been a smoker for as long as I can remember,” Chameleone confessed. “But for my own good, for the sake of my health, I’m putting all of that behind me. No more drinking, no more smoking.”

Looking ahead, Chameleone expressed gratitude for what he sees as a second chance at life. “That was round one, and now God has given me a second round,” he declared, hinting at a fresh start. Recognizing his approaching milestone of fifty years, he acknowledged the need to embrace a slower, healthier pace.

In a gesture of profound gratitude, Chameleone, surrounded by loved ones, attended a Thanksgiving Mass at St. Joseph Lweza Church. When asked about his renewed spiritual focus, he emphasized his deep-seated faith. “People need to know that I am a God-fearing person, a believer,” he stated. “I put God first in everything. Before the doctors intervened, God was the ultimate healer. I constantly pray to become a better version of myself each day.”

This pivotal decision marks a significant turning point for the beloved artist, signaling a commitment to a healthier future and a renewed appreciation for life itself. His openness about his struggles and his reliance on faith resonate deeply with his fans, offering a powerful message of hope and the possibility of positive change.
